What is Two-Factor Authentication?
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a security process in which a user provides two different authentication factors to verify themselves when logging in to a system. Authentication factors could be a knowledge factor (something the user knows, such as a PIN, or secret); a possession factor (ID, token, app); inherence factor (biometrics); location or time factor.
SecurityGate.io offers 3 different integrated 2FA mechanisms: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator and LastPass Authenticator. You can access this in your SecurityGate.io platform instance in the account manager section under Two-Factor Authentication.
Why use it?
Enabling 2FA will better protect both the user’s log in credentials and the resources it has access to. It adds an additional layer of security to the login process making it harder for unauthorized users to gain access to your data.
