SecurityGate.io Supporting 8th Annual Veterans Business Battle

SecurityGate.io CEO and Army Veteran Ted Gutierrez will be a judge at the 8th annual Veterans Business Battle on April 22-23 at Rice’s Jones Graduate School of Business. SecurityGate.io is honored to be a sponsor for this year’s competition and encourages Veteran entrepreneurs at all stages from inception to growth to apply to this year’s event.

Veterans Business Battle is the largest Veteran-focused business plan and pitch competition in the country. Approximately 150 companies apply each year with only 16 of the highest qualified companies selected to pitch. Gutierrez pitched SecurityGate.io at VBB in 2018, when the company was in its early stages of initial market traction.

“VBB was one of my first pitches in the venture capital world that we really prepared for. Looking back, I now see how valuable the guidance, support and mentorship was to helping our team consistently hit milestones in the past 3-4 years. This is our opportunity to pay back some of that generosity we experienced,” Gutierrez said.

Gutierrez said it means a lot to be back as a judge this year and looks forward to the new ideas the pandemic, supply chain, and geo-political atmospheres have fostered to the startup space. In addition to the pitch competition, Veterans Business Battle is an opportunity for competitors to network with entrepreneurs, investors, business leaders and MBA candidates.

“Even if you don’t get accepted, attending as a business owner or entrepreneur is still super valuable; there are banks, advisors, and leaders from virtually every space there to lend a helping hand to get your venture to the next stage. You’re surrounded by people who really want to help you,” Gutierrez said.
